So tonight I decided I would install Corel Painter X and make a somewhat permanent switch from Photoshop to color all of my artwork. After 4 hours I whipped out this piece of Sephiroth, Final Fantasy VII's resident badass.Hands down, the most badass villian since Skeletor, Mumm-Ra and Megatron to ever grace anyone's television screen or fan-fic. I love Sephiroth! To be quite honest, at one point as I was wasting away a good 80 hours or so playing Final Fantasy VII back when it first came out on PSOne, I kinda wanted to be Sephiroth.
Wonder what people would say if I had legally changed my name to Sephiroth Jones?

You've got a tiger by the tailHold on Tigersharks!
Tigersharks!
Look for a human with a tail,
Hold on Tigersharks!
Hold on Tigersharks!"
Not too many people remember this cartoon animated by the same Japanese studio that did Thundercats and Silverhawks, that was originally part of the cartoon block The Comic Strip. I have a few episodes finally, and I've been meaning to post this image for a while. I've only seen 2...count 'em 2...pieces of fanart of Tigersharks on the entire interwebs so make sure you enjoy this piece. Maybe I'll get around to doing the other characters as well.
Continuing to do my job of bringing back old childhood memories...God I miss the 80's!

Another image based on some of Sarah's stock. I changed up quite a bit as I only needed the pose for the reference.Labels: Animated, Anime, comic book, fantasy, Glow
Yeah, so it's pretty damned rare that I post or do anything traditionally, so when I do, you'd better appreciate it cause there's no telling when I'll do it again. I probably only do one or two every two years, cause digitally colored pieces and everything I can do with them is cooler to me...well, in my own honest opinion. Anyway, Afro Samurai was calling for me to draw. So I took a piece of red cardstock, a black fine point sharpie, and a white charcoal pencil and this image was born. Apparently the wife liked it enough to frame and hang on the wall. Now if only I could get her to draw something and frame it.Labels: Afro Samurai, Anime, Cartoon, Gonzo, Manga, Samuel L. Jackson
This is not the Heart you know, this is the Heart Aino (ok, so shoot me). Anyway, this is the last picture I'm moving over for now. I may actually post an entirely new piece of artwork on my next entry. Anyway, I drew good ol' Heart Aino after the night me and my friends went to the Planet Zero Anime Center on Westheimer here in Houston and played this awesome, beautifully hand drawn animated all girl fighter called Arcana Heart, and I was POSITIVE it would be released over here...and sure enough it was...on the PS2. I owned it. I played it. I couldn't beat it. The end boss is RIDONKULOUSLY hard, but the game is still pretty to look at. Then again, almost all anime and anime related stuff is pretty to me.Labels: Anime, Arcana Heart, Cartoon, comic book, girl, Heart Aino, Japanese, Manga
Another old Metroid picture I drew. Yeah, this one took quite a while as well. I like to take my time when coloring Metroid fan art, or else my buddy Ryan would break my legs in several places. Metroid is one of those things that needs to be handled with care and worshipped. It's perfect in every way, even if the game is hard as balls to beat..well, for me anyway, and that was probably a bad comparison too...yuck.Labels: Animated, Anime, Metroid, Mother Brain, Nintendo, Samus, Samus Aran, Zebes
Here was my final entry in this year's past Project Green. Again, I decided to cel shade Jade, or "Yade", lol, and partly ink the background, adding effects later. The far background is painted. It's actually the VERY first background I did for my VERY first Jade picture years and years ago for my friend Andrew's birthday present. A few months after posting it I was invited to be part of the BGE Club on DeviantArt, and have been an active member ever since. This was another attempt to dress her up in something other than her usual outfit, but keeping the same color scheme, and incorporating things from the game, such as the "SYSTEM 4" text on her sleeve.Labels: Animated, Anime, Beyond Good and Evil, comic book, Jade, Ubi Soft
Another entry of Jade to this year's past Project Green. I love this character so much, that if someone gave me enough money, I'd hire a team of fantastic animators over at TMS, the writers from Batman The Animated Series and produce 6 continuous seasons of a Beyond Good and Evil animated series, made for primetime viewing. Sadly, that will probably never happen, so this is the next best thing...a gallery full of Jade fan art. This one, I did something a little different than usual. Instead of painting my background on a seperate layer, I actually inked it with the rest of the image and applied some effects to it to seperated Jade from it. I like it, actually.Labels: Animated, Anime, Beyond Good and Evil, comic book, Jade, Ubi Soft
This was an entry to Project Green 2009. No, that's not some ecologically sound organization...instead it's homage to one of the hands down, bad-assest games ever produced on a home console since the Castlevania series. Yes, I'm talking about Ubi Soft's Beyond Good and Evil. Highly praised by everyone who's played it, there's no wonder why a sequel is finally on the way. Sales for the first game weren't so great when it was realeased, partly because it was released side by side with a few more popular titles, but over the years, people have come to realize what a horrible mistake they made by not buying it on release day. Every year, I try to do a least 2 or 3 images in honor of Jade, the game's main character. This time I tried imagining it as an animated series by making what looks like it could be an animation cel.Labels: Animated, Anime, Beyond Good and Evil, Jade, Ubi Soft

So recently I'd been coloring pinups for my friend Robbie Allen. I've known Robbie for some years now and every now and then I hit him up on AIM or on DeviantArt. Well, after coloring about 5 of his Capcom fan-art pieces, he asked if I'd like to be his official colorist for his comic strips. Being the most awesome interstellar creature in the galaxy that I am, of course I agreed. This is the top panel of the strip, which is a parody of two things. I won't show any more of it cause you'll no doubt be able to see the whole thing over at Robbie's site, Artificial Orange.
I'm also working on logo designs for Robbie's studio as well, so I'm gonna be quite busy...quite busy indeed. And Ghostbusters on PS3 doesn't help my situation either, lol!

his picture was actually part of a bigger picture that didn't turn out the way I wanted. Tom and Dinky turned out way smaller than Lucy and there was no way to salvage them. Anyway, here come the littles...er...a little. Based on he children's book of the same name. Awesome cartoon. Awesome theme song!Labels: Anime, DiC Entertainment, Lucy Little, The Littles, TMS
Darkstalkers 15th Anniversary Tribute Entry
0 Comments Published by CJones on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 11:08 PM.
Because I foolishly entered Udon's Darkstalkers 15th Anniversary Tribute book thinking I actually had a shot of getting in...yeah, confidence was pretty high for a little while. I hadn't heard back so I'm guessing it's pretty safe to say it's not going in so I'm gonna post it for everyone else to see. It's of my all time favorite character, Jon Talbain, cause werewolves kick ass. I saw a couple of other entries that didn't makes it in as well and they were pretty frickin' phenomenal so it makes me wonder what kind of masterpieces were actually picked for the book, or if all the pieces were actually done by actual comic book artists that worked for Udon or other studios, which gave all the rest of us hopefuls no chance of getting picked, even though they were asking all fans to do stuff. I'm pretty sure most of what's in there will be by actual studio and comic book workers, but this is mine. And though it's not perfect, the hours upon hours upon hours I spent on it make it all worth it to me. Don't care what anyone else says, this is my masterpiece. I could die tomorrow and be satisfied with myself, lol.Labels: Anime, Capcom, Darkstalkers, Jon Talbain, Manga, Video Game, Werewolf
